Lightbulb Concept Class-Jester

Ok, ok, a preface to this. It might seem like a joke but I think it may be playable. A low armor, low damage, melee fighter? I know, but I hope the conditions, knockdown, and high damage avoidance help this character out.
Tell me what you think.

Jester



Performers extraordinaire the jesters never really see themselves as heroes. They just feel it is their duty to crown and country to keep the troops in the field entertained. If that puts them in physical danger, so be it. The jesters are practiced in the art of the quarterstaff. Not only useful in balancing acts, the quarterstaff is useful for blocking and quick attacks. The defensive abilities of a quarterstaff are absolutely necessary to jesters, due to thier low health and thin armor. Entertainment skills use the jester’s wit, dexterity, and several tricky gadgets. Jesters use their entertainment ability to cheer their friends and confuse foes. Humor skills use the a jesters endless mirth to cause distraction and provide moral support for his allies. In dexterity lies the jester's ability to avoid damage.

With a belled helmet, multicolored garb, and an application of face paint, the jester is ready to fight on.

Quarterstaff Mastery

Gut Buster-Quarterstaff Attack 5e 1/4c 10r
If foe was casting a spell, that spell is interrupted. Foe suffers from deep wounds for 5…10 seconds.

Rim Shot-Quarterstaff Attack 20e 1/4c 10r
You hit 3 times. On the third attack foe suffers +20…30. If any attack is “evaded” rim shot ends.

One, Two-Quarterstaff Attack 5e 1/4c 10r
You attack twice. The second attack does +5…15 points of damage.

Rise and Fall -Skill 10e 10r
If you are knocked down, when you get up, all adjacent foes are knocked down.

Swing for the Fence-Quarterstaff Attack 15e 1c 15r
You do +10…20 points of damage.

Center Block-Stance 5e 10r
For the next 5 seconds, you have a 50…75% chance to block incoming melee attacks.

Deflect-Skill 10e 1/4c 10r
The next 1…3 attacks are “blocked.” The attacker takes half the damage of the attack.

Coup De Gras-Quarterstaff Attack 5e 1/4c 7r
If targeted foe has less than 5…25% health, you hit twice.

Sweep-Quarterstaff Attack 10e 1/4c 10r
Targeted foe is knocked down and becomes crippled for 2…10 minutes.

Top Spin-Stance 15e 25r
For 15 seconds, you have a 50…90% chance to block projectiles. If you attack top spin ends.

Wall of staves-Stance 10e 25r
For 5…15 seconds, you block 50% of melee attacks and do 25% less damage.

Centripetal Force-Skill 5e 1/4c 15r
For 5…15 seconds, the next quarterstaff attack recharges 25% faster.

Defensive Form-Skill 20e 25r
For 10 seconds, you cannot use a melee attack. If any foe performs a melee attack against you, you take no damage, and the foe takes 15…45 points of damage.

Crush Foot-Quarterstaff Attack 10e 1/4c 20r
For 5...15 seconds, target foe becomes crippled.


Entertainment

Juggle Lights-Spell 10e 1c 25r
Nearby foes become dazed for 2…5 seconds. (If the foe is already suffering from dazed or blindness this spell fails)

Confetti-Skill 10e 1/2c 20r
For 10…20 seconds, foes nearby to the location in which the spell was cast attack 25% slower.

Juggle Daggers-Skill 10e 1c 15r
For 10…20 seconds any adjacent foe takes 5…15 damage a second, and begin bleeding for 3…12 seconds. (If the foe is suffering from bleeding this skill has no effect)

Smoke Cloud-Skill 20e 1/2c 15r
For 5…15 seconds, foes nearby to the location in which the skill was activated have a 25% chance of targeted spells failing. (If the foe is suffering from blindness this skill fails)

Streamers-Skill 5e 1/2c 20r
For 10…20 seconds, foes nearby to the location in which the spell was cast move 25% slower.

Ventriloquism-Enchantment Spell 10e 1/2c 20r
For 10…20 seconds if you are or become dazed, you cannot be interrupted.

Balloon Animal-Summoning Spell 5e 2c 20r
Create 1…4 level 1 balloon animals. This animal's attacks deal 5 - 17 damage. These animals pop after 20 seconds. If the animal takes damage it pops and causes 15…45 damage to all adjacent foes.

Card Trick-Spell 5e 1/2c 10r
Draw 1…4 cards, each card does 1-13 fire, earth, lightning or ice damage on targeted foe.

Flash powder-Skill 15e 1/2c 15r
Blinds 1…4 adjacent foes for 10 seconds. (If the foe is suffering from blindness this skill has no effect)

Squirting Flower-Skill 10e 1/2c 10r
Touched foe will miss the next 2…5 melee attacks.

Hand Buzzer-Skill 5e 1/2c 10r
Touched foes action is interrupted. For every adjacent foe, touched foe also takes 5…15 points of damage. (Limit 25…75)

Cream Pie-Skill 15e 1/2c 25r
For every adjacent foe, touched foe becomes blinded for 1…3 seconds. (Limit 5…15 seconds). (If the foe is suffering from blindness this skill fails)

Hot Foot-Skill 10e 1/2c 15r
Touched foe begins burning for 1…5 seconds. Foe also moves 15% faster for 5…10 seconds.

Rotten Tomato-Elite Skill 5e 1/2c 10r
If target foe is telling a joke, that joke is interrupted, and they cannot tell another joke for 5…10 seconds. If rotten tomato is successful then the skill is disabled for 5...10 seconds.

Punch line-Skill 5e 1/2c 10r
Previous skill must be a joke. Target foe takes 15…40 points of damage.

Greased Palms-Skill 15e 1/2c 25r
Touched target foe’s touch skills fail for the next 2…10 seconds.

Chattering Teeth-Elite Hex 15e 1/2c 30r
For 5…10 seconds touched foe’s spells fail.

Marbles-Skill 20e 1/2c 25r
For 5…15 seconds, foes nearby to the location in which the skill was activated are knocked down every second.

Itching Powder-Skill 15e 1/2c 15r
For 10 seconds, touched target foe attacks have a 25...50% chance of being evaded.

Sneezing Powder-Skill 15e 1/2c 20r
Touched foe's action is interupted. The next time, within 5...15 seconds, the touched foe perfoms a chant,shout, or spell that action is interupted.

Snake in a Chest-Skill 10e 1/2c 15r
Touched foe gains 20 health points. In 3 seconds the foe and any adjacent foe is knocked down and becomes dazed for 2...12 seconds.


Humor

Dead Crowd-Joke 10e 2c 20r
For every corpse in the area you receive 1…3 energy points (Max 5…15 points of energy).

Giggle-Joke 10e 2c 20r
Target other ally receives a +1…5 health regeneration.

Uncontrollable Laughter-Joke 25e 2c 20r
Target foe cannot attack or cast spells for 5…20 seconds, but also has a +10…+5 health regeneration.

Bad Joke-Joke 10e 2c 15r
Target foe takes 1…3 damage for each point of energy the foe has.

Dirty Joke-Joke 15e 2c 15r
If a target foe is bleeding that foe becomes diseased for 5…15 seconds.

Practical Joke-Joke 10e 2c 15r
Target foe receives a deep wound for 5…15 seconds, but gains +1 energy regeneration.

Inside Joke-Joke 15e 2c 15r
If other ally is under the effect of a joke that ally receives 2…15 points energy.

Prat fall-Joke 5e 2c 15r
You fall down and loose 10% of your health. Any creature in the area gain 25…50 points of health.

Straight Man-Joke 10e 2c 10r
Target other ally will not be affected by jokes for 5…15 seconds.

Comic Relief-Joke 15e 2c 15r
If other target ally is suffering from a condition, that ally receives +1…+3 health regeneration for each condition.

Heckle-Joke 10e 1/2c 15r
If target foe is using a chant, ritual, shouts, spell, or joke. That foe is interrupted.

Incessant Jabber-Joke 15e 2c 10r
For 10…20 seconds other target ally becomes impervious to the effects of shout and chants.

Impersonation-Joke 20e 2c 10r
Impersonation is replaced by a target foes shout or chant for 10…25 seconds.

Spit take-Joke 10e 2c 20r
For 5…15 seconds, the next time other target ally is hit by a foe. That foe becomes blinded for 3…15 seconds. (If the foe is suffering from blindness this skill fails)

Mock–Joke 15e 2c 20r
For 5…15 seconds any melee attack performed by an adjacent target foe hits you instead of its target.

Deadpan-Joke 15e 2c 15r
Delays the effects of the next joke by 2…5 seconds, during this time you become impervious to the effects of shouts, chants, and joke.

Sarcasm-Joke 10e 2c 15r
Heal target foe for 45 health points, and give foe -5…-8 points of heath degeneration for 10 seconds.

Wit-Joke 25e 4c 35r
The next 1…4 jokes gain a level when spoke.

Parody-Joke 10e 3c 15r
Parody is replaced with target foes last skill, the skill is executed as if it has no points put into the skill even if the skill does. It resides in your bar for 15-30 seconds.

Running Gag-Joke 25e 2c 30r
If other target is under the effects of a joke, those effects are extended for 5…15 seconds.


Dexterity

Quick hands-Skills 15e 1/2c 15r
Entertainment skills recharge 5…15% faster for 20 seconds.

Quick Feet-Skill 5e 1/2c 10r
You move 10…20% faster for 5 seconds.

Keen eyes-Skill 20e 1/2c 15r
Your next 1…5 attacks cannot be evaded or avoided.

Blind Luck-Skill 15e 1/2c 15r
For 1…20 seconds, if you are blinded your attacks cannot be evaded.

Acrobatics-Skill 10e 1/4c 10r
You “evade” the next 1…3 attacks.

Very funny! Most players will be like WTF!!!! with the outcomes of half of these skills with what they do.

Most Original Class that I have seen on these forums yet (though I've been apart of these forums for like two days now...)

Necro skills, Mesmer skills, Ritualist skills

I like the skills, dont get me wrong. But this really doesnt feel like a new class at all.

It plays just like those classes.

Please. Send this in to ANet! This is the best class I've seen ever! I would defiately make one! And, a suggestion: make Hand Buzzer do lightning dmg, and caused dazed. That'd be sick.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm glad you like the build for the most part. Sorry about the half naked jester. He was more in the direction I wanted to go(with a shirt on). Maybe Ill put him on the bottom of the post so I dont scare people off , or better yet I can go get a pic of Harley from batman.

As far as the skills go, it is really hard to completely avoid rehashing some other classes skills (there are only so many conditions). But I hoped to give a different twist on conditioning and place them in different type of package.

Thanks again I had real fun making him/her.

Love your skills but your overall meaning to it sounds a little rundown in my opinion. You shoulda thought of a different name then Jester and also different picture lol. But again your skills are admirable.

K changed the photo you can all come back now . I am curious what you mean by rundown? Also, it is kind of hard to change the name now, what with all the pranks and pies and jokes and stuff, but I am interested in what you would suggest.

I was just reading over Rotten Tomato, and if I may suggest, you should make it elite, and make the skill disabled for 5...10 seconds.

By rundown I just mean the skill names thats all. The things that your skills can do is quite interesting, I just wondered why Jester lol???

Well its kind of funny my buddy and I were trying to think of new classes he brought up Jester. We started coming up with skills, just back and forth, laughing the whole time. After awhile though we realized it could be a real class. We came up with the main attributes. I thought up some skill names. I then came back and decided with what they did.

When I was finished I was very hesitent putting it up here. I was just like you the skills were cool, the character would be fun to play, and it might also be competitve, but it kind of felt a like a joke. I just think thats what a Jester is really about.

Next one will be serious, swear to god.

i thought this was going to be kind of corny when i first read the title, but when i got down into some of the skills i started to think that this would really work. i really like the idea and i would play one in a heart beat. i just dont know if all of the skills are something that anet would implement. but if i was working at anet and i saw this i would definitley pick it up and try to get anet to pass it.

Cool idea. I'd play one.

And to all the people ragging on him for "rehashing other classes", it's really hard NOT to do that. As he said, there are only so many conditions, and the current classes pretty much cover the core compenents of the game (tank, healer, buffer, etc).

If you're going to moan about people using similar stuff to other classes, then at least come up with your own ideas as to how those can be changed.

Especially the new Jester pic.

I think there should be some more conditions though. Pie joke that poisons?

this is awesome... really basically what the mesmer could have been. If this came out in Ch. 4 (roman theme maybe then?) I would definitely play one.
